I was wondering.......it hurt like hell when it was inserted. For those of you that had it removed, "HOW BAD DOES THE REMOVAL HURT?" I am afraid to have it removed but know it is necessary. I've called my doctor and am waiting on a reply from the nurse. I want my Mirena removed. I posted my symptoms on May 8th. I've had mine in for 4 1/2 months. My symptoms are in order of severity: *heavy bleeding 3 out of 4 weeks (pads or tampons with breakthrough bleeding and pantiliner 24/7) *acne on my back, butt and jawline (going to Derm. and using ProActive) *I've gained 15 lbs in the past 4 months and it won't come off *headaches *a sore spot in my spine (I was fearful I had cancer) *facial hair *bloating (I look 4 months pregnant 1/2 of the time) *low libido *irritable and moody more than usual *sore breasts

I have had all the same side effects. I have been feeling depressed to top it off. I've had it in since 1/1 and have put on 10lbs. I am someone who doesn't gain weight so it was quite a shock. I welcome the extra pounds but am fearful as to just how much I'll keep gaining. My doctor keeps saying that it "should" get better in about a year. A year! I am debating taking it out. But also fearful due to the pain of insertion.

I did not even feel it when it was taken out - MUCH DIFFERENT than getting it in! If you are having side effects get it out! I did and so happy about it. All these crazy things that they say are unrelated are going away for me!

Hi there, i had mine removed and was just like yourself worried, but i neednt have, it was quick and painless. The longer you have it in for the worse the effects will be... you will notice you feel better straight away...

I had the same symptoms as you with the exception of the sore spot on the spine. I had mine just 5 months...enough was enough. Taking it out was nothing, a pap was more uncomfortable. I hope your removal is as painless. Good luck to you!

I had the same symptoms except the pain in the spine. I also got high blood pressure from this thing. I had mine removed yesterday and the headaches are no where near as severe as they were when it was in, and my blood pressure dropped a number or two. I can't wait to get back to myself!!!!! Removal is a piece of cake.

I had my Mirena removed yesterday, after 10 months of being in place. I feel like having it caused me to almost go crazy, short-tempered, always fatigued and the worse is during intercourse and when sitting in certain positions, I'd have sharp pains in the abdomen. The weight gain is another. I just started gaining weight since I had it, probably around 10 lbs that just seems to keep going on. Anyhow, the pain was not unbearable to me. It seemed to hurt more putting it in. For me it hurt more putting the clamp in place than pulling it out. Just a light pressure. I didn't even know it was done until I saw my doctor with her forceps and the IUD on it. Just relax and you'll be fine.
