I took Nortriptyline for 3 years to help prevent migraines. I had a weight gain over the years. I gained so much weight that the doctor told me I was pre-diabetic. He told me if I didn't loose weight I was going to go into full diabetes and possibly damage my kidneys. I decided right then to loose the weight. Started working out 3 days a week running and going to the gym...no results. I even hired a physical trainer who I paid 2-3 times a week to torture me. I finally fired the physical trainer and looked up the side effects of nortriptyline. When I saw that weight gain was so high I weened myself off of it. I lost 10 pounds immediately and another 10 working out. My migraines came back with a fierceness but the alternative was diabetes. I don't need another medical problem. Still looking for a replacement for the nortriptyline.
