I'm 51 and in good shape. I ran 60+ miles in Dec, a PR 5K and then started Lisinopril in late January. Since then I have been fatigued and wiped out after running - no longer get the runner's high at all. Two weeks ago I ran 6 miles and couldn't get out of bed for two days. Family doc said quit the stuff. That was 6 days ago - ran 3 today and was pretty wiped - also seen a pick up in anxiety. Any advice? How long does this stuff take to clear your system? When can expect my stamina to return? Thanks.

I have been taking Lisinopril for 3 years (5mg), then for the past 6 mo, combining it with the waterpill. I can only say I am stunned to read these posts and see how so many people have suffered with muscle, joint pain, tiredness, etc. I have spent so much money trying to find out what is wrong with me. I suffer with so much pain, it's absolutely crazy. I've lost desire to live sometimes. All these specialists don't know what's wrong...They stop just short of diagnosing me with MS, arthritis, fibromyaslia, you name it. My memory is shot, I'm depressed, and find it hard to function. I was just checking to see if possibly the zinc in Lisinopril is causing my symptoms. Then I found this site. I have tried massage, accupuncture, steriod injection, meditation, rest, you name it for the pain, and the only thing that barely touches it is Cymbalta...because it blocks the pain signals to the brain. But not all of them. I still hurt. Even in my fingers, toes. Sometimes I can barely hold on to things. My shoulder, arm especially hurts. I feel so bad I've actually considered disability. But I have to work. I'm definately going to seek a different medication for my high BP. Perhaps you all have saved me. Thanks so much for sharing your stories.

I started taking 20 mg Lisinopril about 6 to 8 months ago. I have always had tennis elbo but usually only hurts when I strain my arms too much. Now it hurts constantly. I have been having bad knee joint pain for about a week now. One other thing, I have been having really, really strange dreams since I have been on this medicine. Anybody else? My blood pressure is good now and no more palpitations. I went through about 4 different kinds and nothing would lower my pressure except this. I guess the search will continue if the joint pain doesn't go away soon.

Strange dreams are definitely a side effect of this drug. I have been off this drug since July 8, 2008 and I still have joint, shoulder and rib pain. Maybe I have permament damage from this drug. My hair also has not come back like it was.
