This is what I read from the Prednisone "full prescribing info:"

"Psychic derangements may appear when corticosteroids are used, ranging from euphoria, insomnia, mood swings, personality changes, and severe depression, to frank psychotic manifestations. Also, existing emotional instability or psychotic tendencies may be aggravated by corticosteroids."

I have been taking Prednisone for about 2 years. I have been tappered down finally to 5mg. down from 80 at the start. I experienced everything from terrible mood swings, moon face, buffalo hump, acne, and severe joint pain. I know exactly how it feels to go thorugh the rages and my husband and I almost split because of them. This drug is wonderful for inflammation but the side effects can sometimes be worse than the disease. I'm sorry you are going through this because it is just as hard for the spouse or partner as it is for the patient. I feel terrible for what I put my husband and kids through and I am sure your boyfriend feels bad about it too. The rages are sometimes uncontrollable and if you just work with him and reassure him I am sure you will overcome this. Good Luck to you both!!!!
