I have been taking Singulair for one week now due to my exercise induced asthma and allergic asthmatic symptoms. I feel very stressed out and anxious and yell at my parents a lot. Also, I feel kind of paranoid, like I feel as if somebody is watching me at all times. It is scary because I've only been on it a week. Also, my face is red and blotchy and my acne has gone from very little bumps to full blown breakouts all over. I have a barking cough and runny nose now that the doctor prescribed it. When I cough I have a pain on my left side that feels like someone is stabbing me.

Almost every symptom you mentioned is a documented side effect of Singulair. Your doctor and parents may not be aware of these side effects so PLEASE TELL YOUR PARENTS how you are feeling right away and show www.parentsforsafety.org, where they can get information about Singulair's side effects and the FDA's ongoing Safety Review of Singulair.

In January the FDA warned patients to watch for neuropsychiatric side effects (behavior/mental/mood changes) from Singulair. http://www.fda.gov/Cder/drug/early_comm/montelukast_200901.htm (refer to paragraph 5 that begins: "Post-marketing reports of neuropsychiatric events associated with montelukast...")

I am worried about you. Please post again with an update on how you are doing.
