What a rotten drug. The past seven months have been hell for me. I am 42 years of age and put on this crap last November. I have suffered from bad headaches, leg cramps, Insomnia, Plantar Fasciitis, mood swings and the list goes on. After seeing this site and all your responses I believe the best thing to do is get of the crap. I will write in 2 weeks to give an update. cheers from Down Under

This dangerous drug can cause MANY side effects. I stopped taking this POISON in 2-08 and still have side effects. . . . I am still angry about the drs. and drug co's that push it . . . . it is all about $$$ and we suffer.

Good that you suffered from side effects reasonably soon. It`s worse if they appear fter many years. That happend to a friend of mine - and at that time neither he nor I had any idea what this type of medication can do to you.

But it`s not just this type of medication.

You mention the following side effects:

"...bad headaches, leg cramps, Insomnia, Plantar Fascitiis, mood swings and the list goes on.

My friend had exactly the same and a lot more. I am sure several of the diagnosis that he received where actually side effects of statins. All statins have similar side effects so don´t let anybody convince you that you should start all over again!

It`s your body and you know best how you feel.

I would also suggest that you read for instance - The Great Cholesterol Con (Anthony Colpo), Overdosed America (John Abramson) and The Truth About The Drug Companies.

There are also many interesting articles under News at www.thincs.org.

Statins are clearly NOT the road to good health. Blocking the body's ability to make cholesterol is not the answer to cardiovascular disease. But due to public perception ( thats the key word- perception) that Cholesterol is the enemy, the populations reach into their wallets to pay billions of dollars for a scam therapy.

I train and compete for Ironman distance triathlons. I have all the other symptoms you mentioned, wild mood swings, headaches, lack of sleep and etc. The biggest problem I've experienced is cramping in the calves and arches. I've been to every specialist in this area from doctors to PTs to ARTs, muscle specialists, and chiroprators. I've had every test under the sun wasting a lot of money. Ultimatley I a massage therapist trying to work out my nasty cramps ask if I wasn on Lipitor as he has seen leg cramping as bad as mine only with other clients of his on Lipitor. I'm off the crap and improving weekly!
