Sounds like you took too much too soon. I took 25mg for 1 week then 25 mg 2x per day for three weeks. Will gradually increase. My doctor actually told me the nickname for this med was dopamax when it first came out because people took too much too soon and had subsequent side effects. I take this for nerve pain. It is helping. I have had tingling and numbness when I first started it and when I increased but am trying to be patient. Hope you find something that works or maybe try again more slowly.
To avoid having similar problems at work, I have limited my Topamax to 75mg a day (if taken at bedtime, it has less side effects) and at first onset of a migraine I take 40mg of Relpax. This usually helps for at least a 24 hour period at which I may have to take another 40mg of Relpax until I break out of that particular migraine cycle. I think if you just find the lowest dosage of Topamax that you can function on and combine it with a migraine medicine, it will not be as bad as it used to be. You just have to find the right combination. Relpax has done wonders for me, and if I take it with a full meal, I have no side effects at all. If I take it without eating, it just makes me a little drowsy for a few hours.
