I have had the mirena since November 2007. People around me started noticing differences in my level of energy not long after. I am constantly fatigued and have had to stop dancing (I normally danced flamenco a few times a week). Last summer I had serious periods for 5 weeks straight! Now for the last 3 months I have had very painful breasts, just walking kills me! I feel like I am in my PMS ALL the time. Since the mirena I have gained weight in the tummy area (and my breasts are fuller too) and my muscles fatigue faster. Last November (2008) after 12 months with the mirena I wanted it out but my gyneco did not see the relation between my symptoms and the mirena and told me to hold on a little more. Something is definitively happening to me hormone wise. I even had 2 hot flashes last week!! I am seeing the doc on June 3 and will demand to have this thing taken out! Oh! and my sex drive? GONE, completely gone :(
