When we talk about "normal blood pressure", I think we should remember that a few years ago, it was considered normal for your blood pressure to rise with your age. 100 plus your age was "normal" for the upper reading. Then the drug companies set lower standards in order to sell drugs to most anyone over the age of 20. Recently, the standards were reduced, again to scare a whole new segment of the population into enriching the drug companies. A wonderful "side effect" of the side effects was that they could sell you drugs to battle the side effects of the blood pressure meds. I know people who are on 10 or more prescriptions a day. Do a google search on "100 plus your age" and see what you think about the situation.

I am 60 years old and have taken high blood pressure medicine for years. No one in my family has thinning hair, but I have a nice bald spot starting right in the front of my head. It is so depressing. I started taking Lisinopril and found hair all over my sink and bathroom floor so stopped taking it - went back to Atenolol and diuretic - I think the diuretic is what causes the hair loss to tell you the truth. Does anyone know of a high bp medicine that doesn't need a diuretic???
This drug can cause MANY side effects, including hair loss. There are many natural products/alternatives for high blood pressure . . .instead of taking drugs. Unfortunately, most drs. are drug-happy, since that's all they know.
