Dear Angie, I am so sorry this happened to you. First I want to say that all doctors should know that fluoroquinolones and prednisone or any steroid should never be taken together! That being said, know that you are not alone in your suffering. There are literally thousands of us. The good news is that you will eventually recover. The bad news is that it can take many months. I was "floxed" in Dec of 2007. I am happy to report that I am so much better than I was back then. I was in very bad shape, much like you. I also didn't know if I would ever get better and that anxiety was the worst! My first recommendation would be to start taking a magnesium supplement. When I was first floxed, I did a lot of research, and found out that magnesium binds to the drug to help get it out of your system. However, it can't reverse the damage that's already occurred. Time is really the only solution. Rest and take it easy also because you don't want to rupture a tendon. I know that isn't easy to do when you have a 3 year old. Do you have any friends or family that can help during this difficult time? I was literally on the couch for about 5-6 months at the beginning. I took so much advil that I ended up with severe GERD and had to take medicine for that so be careful. Actually, they say you shouldn't take any NSAIDS if you've taken fluoroquinolones. There is a support group on yahoo health boards that helped me through. Maybe you would like to join. I will pray for you to heal soon. Please send in a MEDWATCH report to the FDA. However, this group is a joke. They KNOW that these medicines are maiming people and they allow it to continue. The biggest lesson I've learned in all of this is that we have to be responsible for our own health and we can't trust our doctors or the agencies that exist to "protect" us. They are all the pockets of the big pharmaceutical companies. I will never again take a medication that I haven't either taken before or that I haven't thoroughly researched.
