I was given prednisone for bronchitis...my symptoms were tightness in my chest, inability to get my breath...I was rushed to the hospital where they checked me for heart attack, pulmonary embulism, bllood clots. you name it....3 hours later and over $2000 in copays...I was told the prednisone had caused it...after that I developed GERD....life has changed completely but everyone says the drup was not responsible....funny thing is my daughter a nurse out west talked with a Gastro Doctor...he said prednisone can cause GERD and that lots of body builders have it because of steroids.
Have you considered the possibility that the problem may not be from the prednisone but the antibiotic that you took? Which antibiotic did you take? Was it a fluoroquinolone? eg. cipro, levaquin, avelox, etc. If you had taken one of the fluoroquinolones, your problem may be from that and you should research fluoroquinolone toxicity on the internet. I hope you feel better soon.
