Yes, it is possible and quite likely that these are side effects of the Mirena. I have had mine for over 2 years now and I love it and hate it. When I first got the Mirena, my cycle went haywire. It went on for weeks and the clotting was a more frequent than usual. After a few months, it got better, but there was more breakthrough. Eventually it started to get lighter and lighter and now I hardly have a cycle. When I do, it's very light and only lasts 4 days or less. I did start to get headaches for a while, but Excedrin took care of that; I just didn't like having to take it. I don't like to take med's if I can help it. I have experienced pain in my lower abdomen and the pain is more severe when I ovulate. As far as the weight goes, I am at the heaviest point in my life. I have gained about 40 pounds. I didn't gain that much with my two boys. I also think I experienced some hair loss from it. I thought it was a thyroid problem, but I had it checked and my thyroids were fine. I have considered having it removed just to see if the weight goes back to normal. Mirena definitely has it's ups and downs.
I forgot to mention, it killed my sex drive for a while.
i had pelvic pain and lower back pain sort of like early labour pains, numb and achy like there is a pinched nerve or muscle spasm. also i had unexplained weight gain and i could not get rid of it slowly creeping up 13pounds from 58kg ( 6months after baby) to 64.5kg 20 months later. when i had my mirena removed 5 weeks ago, the lower back pain and pelvic pain has stopped, painful feet in the morning has disappeared and my energy levels are great. Goodluck
