Dude, I feel for you. I have no idea what its like to be on Prednisone for that long, but it sounds harsh.
I had some surgery a couple of weeks ago and there is a problem with swelling. So my Dr. prescribed Prednisone. It's TERRIBLE. I have been on it for 6 days now.
Sometimes it feels as though I am going mentally insane right around the 24hour mark since last having it. Then when I take a new dose, I get hit strong again with a terrible mental instability that lasts for hours.
Just took my last 40mg dose (as I have been stepping down from a 60mg set of doses). Tomorrow I have to take a 20mg dose of which I have to do for 3 days.
Its 3:15am. I have to be at work at 8:00am. I have severe night sweats and now I can't sleep at all even though my body is exhausted. My heart just POUNDS and my whole body pulses with it making it impossible to sleep. Vitals seem ok with blood pressure around ranges 123-141 / 70-82.
I can't imagine anyone taking this long term - or with any higher doses.
Thanks people for posting. At least now I can rest a bit easier knowing that I am not getting mentally sick as this is just a side-effect of the medicine.
Good luck jan40411, I hope that things go better in the future.
