Whenever a woman switches birth control types or starts on birth control for the first time ever, it takes a period of time for her body to get used to this new pill. My mother and sister are both nurses and have reassured me about it many time (and a few doctors). The first few months you are on the pill (though the time frame varies from woman to woman), your body is having a new dose of estrogen and hormones running through your body. Birth Control is a hormone pill; when your body has hormones put in it, there are going to be times of change. After a few months (depending on the reason for getting on the pill) your body should be used to it. Be patient.
If you have been on the pill for 8 months to a year and still find that your hormones are out of control, speak with your doctor about another option that may eliminate these issues. I was on Yaz because I wasn't getting my period (low estrogen count). But, my estrogen count was so low that I wasn't even getting my period on Yaz. I switched to Yazmin and have been on it for 1.5 years. Over the past two months I have experienced a huge shift in my hormones. I've been insanely emotional, and depressed. I am going to my doctor to see what I can switch to in order to 1- help my estrogen count, and 2- control my mood better.
Good luck ladies! I hope this helped.
