I took Zocor for 9 months after I had a heart attack. After about 8 months I began having sever muscle spasm in my legs. I had a couple of episodes where when walking I couldn't pick up my feet and thought I was having a stroke and had to sit down and rest before walking on. I had to do this several times to get where I was going. I told my cardiologist and he had me stop the Zocor. The spasms stopped but I never regained the strength in my legs. Today I have had to put ramps in at home cannot climb steps. The ramp is difficult because of the incline but it is better than crawling up my steps to get in the house. I can only walk about 50 steps before my legs give out on me. I cannot walk on uneven ground without holding on to something or someone. I have now had 2 back surgeries because I have been told over and over it is my back with no relief for the legs. This last surgery my left foot drags and my big toe hangs down and I cannot pull it up. Now I fall a lot because of that and have to wear an AFO to keep my foot and toe up so it doesn't drag and trip me. The back doctor thinks it another pinched nerve and wants to open back up again. I am so tired of them trying to convenience me it is my back when I know it was the Zocor and the damage apparently is irreversible but no one wants to agree with me. I am sick of it and just wish they would say yes it was the Zocor and get you a scooter and live the best you can. I know I am headed for that road I use a walker and cane when I don't have someone with me to hold on to. Because I am so unstable on my legs.

Classic case of Zocor poisoning.

If I were in your shoes, I would get a muscle biopsy in order to document the damage, and then contact an attorney who handles this type of case.

There haven't been too many attorneys that handle statin litigation. I just located one in NYC. His name is Mark Krum and he has filed lipitor lawsuits for clients across the USA. I don't know if he handles zocor cases or not. I am not affiliated with this guy in anyway, nor do I know what his track record is. I just found him on the net and thought you might be interested. Wishing you the best and that justice will be served.

I have been looking for someone to talk to about this and see what I should do but there has been no one taking Zocor cases that I have found. Thanks for the name I will see what I can find out. Thanks this is so discouraging not to be able to get answers from the medical folks I have seen for help. It feels like no one cares my legs don't work any more. I have my first grand child he is 7 months old and I cannot walk and carry him. I can't work in my flowers or clean my house. I can actually do no physical activities at all unless it is sitting down. It is a good thing I work in HR and just sit at a desk most of day or I wouldn't be able to continue to work any more and disability is so hard to get. thanks!

We've just come across statins and orthopedics in the UK, reported in the orthopedics journal. 3 case studies, patients presenting joint pain on ceasing the statin medication the pain reduced or was eliminated. Suggest you go to spacedoc dot net he makes some rommendations for relief.

Are you boosting up on your supplements especially COQ10? Also make sure you get the right sort of coq10 the hydrosluble ubiqunol from Kaneka has been shown through independent tests to be 300% more bioavailable than other brands of coq10. 300 mgs a day plus plus heaps of quality fish oil gave me a good 20% improvement within a month. It's not the total fix but as you know any little bit helps. It's a miserable cruel road.Good luck

Just want to share with you my experience. I had the same symptoms as yours when I took the Zocor for a month. So I searched the Web and found a natural way to lower the LDL and the total cholesterol, at the same time raise the HDL. It's the combination of Niacin (which is vitamin B3) and Milk Thistle (which is a herb that is really effective in detoxify the liver). The Milk Thistle is really helpful for people who take a lot of drugs or who are under chemotherapy, because it helps the liver getting rid of the toxins that accumulated in it. Anyway, after stopping the Zocor, my muscle spasm didn't go away, my total cholesterol was 275, HDL was 33. After taking the Niacin (500mg a day) and Milk Thistle for 1 week, the muscle spasm went away. After 1 month, my cholesterol dropped to 198, HDL raises to 45. I'm so thankful that I'm pain free, and I don't have to take any prescription drug.

Try COQH + folic acid+ B6+B12 + carnitine + D-ribose and crenatine.Don't forget Vitamin A and E.
This is what most of us (statin victims) are taking and our conditions improved.
