to di1015 - I was just put on prednisone yesterday for a spide bite. my doctor is extremely conservative and was telling me about all of the possible side effects. he specifically said if i experience any joint pain, expecially in my hips, to call him immediately. Prednisone can cause some people's joints to die. he said if that does happen and it's caught right away, it can be repaired, but if gone untreated, the joint will die and a replacement would need to be put in. i don't remember all of the exact medical terminology he used, but that was the jist of it. hope this helps and see another doctor sooner rather than later.

Hi, did you ask your health care team for an alternative? Sought a 2nd opinion? Even 5mg/day of prednisone could be harmful. Do you take any vitamins/minerals to offset its side effects?
