I've had the same sort of reaction to the lisinopril. I couldn't figure out why I've had this constant itching on my hands. I've had this hive like rash on my hands. My doctor gave me a two week course of prednisone. While I was taking the prednisone the hives were better, but as soon as I stopped taking it they returned. I am going to ask him to take me off of the lisinopril. I am sure I can manage my mild high blood pressure with my work-outs at the gym. These crazy side effects are scary.
Trey, and everyone
Your message was like reading my own story. I havent been been in realitively good health for my life. I am 30 and went to the ER to have an Eye Stye looked at. They told me that i need a regular doctor, but the stye would go away. They also told me that i needed to get on BP med cause mine was roughly 150/100. They put me on Metropolol right away and scheduled me an appt with a family doc. 2 weeks later, at the appt, i had red palms and they itched a little bit. My Dr. Switched me to Lasinipril 10mg daily. 3 Days later, i have huge hives around my waistline and groin area. Several days later i had them around my neck, under my armpits, waist, groin, and some on my back. That was in April 09. They finally took me off the lasinipril in May (my dr said " in 20 years of medicine, he never seen a reaction to lasinipril like mine"), however the hives are still comming back as bad as ever. Now, after 3 trips to the dr, one to the ER (throat started closing up) and several dermitologist visits and in the middle of an alergist visits to see what else is wrong (if anything). I never had a reaction to anything in my life before i have been on the metropolol and lasinipril. I am on 10mg a day of prednizone, 2 zyrtec 10mg a day, and Tagamet 2x 800mg a day. Yet they still pop out almost daily. So that makes it for me off lasinipril for 2 months and i still get the effects. I hope that your recovery is much faster than mine. Feel free to drop me a line and give updates. I cant wait untill this finally passes and is just a bad memory. Anyone can feel free to contact me at bassett4ever@yahoo.com to share war stories, pictures (ya mine are somewhat gross) or vent about this junk they sell.
