Oh yes! I'd guess there are at least a couple million others with the same problem. Fatigue is actualy very common on statin drugs, although those with commercial interests in the drugs will deny it. Statins deplete CoQ10 from muscles. CoQ10 is essential for cell energy. There are other reasons statins cause fatigue. Cholesterol is vital to maintain steroid hormones, and it is vital to the structural entegrity of cell walls. Cholesterol is important in nerve function as well.
So what can we do??? He work 8 to 10 hours, five days a week
and he also does not sleep well, which does not help with the
fatigue from this drug. He will have a blood test in about six weeks,
If at that time his cholesterol is down, is it possible to go off this
drug, are is there another cholesterol drug that he can take
that will not cause this side effect.
Thanks Susan
Susan,
What are his cholesterol numbers? Most of the time it's not necessary to take a drug. Has he had a heart attack or angioplasty? Why was the statin prescribed. How old is he? I can give more suggestions if I know a little more.
