Like many of the stories here, I had developed a bad cough. I would start hacking and gagging. Sometimes I would be dizzy after the episode. I stumbled across this site when looking for answers to my coughing and gagging. I have been on Lisinopril for about 6 months now, and it seems to correlate with the the coughing episodes. I have had sinus CT scans, many drugs, and no answer nor relief.

Tell your doctor you need another type of med. You can always try to control your BP naturally by exercising, eating well, and monitoring your BP at home. Take care.

lisinopril causes a severe debilitating cough in about 11% of patients. in fact, the cough is the number one reason that people stop taking lisinopril. whenever a severe cough develops in a person taking lisinopril, the drug should be the very first thing suspected and it should be discontinued to see if the cough goes away. every doctor knows this! you don't do sinus CT scans and many drugs, until you've first discontinued the lisinopril.
your doctor must be an idiot. get off the drugs and get yourself a new doctor who won't needlessly waste your insurance money
