I just started the NuvaRing, and Everything seems to be going okay with an exception for the extreme breast tenderness. I put it in the day I started my period and, like clockwork, my period was gone, but still with some of the period pain such as ovary pain and breast swelling. I asked to be put on the ring because of my extremely painful periods and cramping and plus obviously I don't want to get pregnant. After being on it for something like..a week and a half, I've only noticed mood swings once, and that was last week during what should have been my period, and I think it's because my body is still working out the period symptoms that I should have been experiencing. I'm really worried about weight gain though. I'm not really that hungry unusually or anything.. just kind of normal but I've only been on this for a short time so I am fearful of increase in appetite and weight gain in the near future.. Has anyone had weight gain issues??

I have been on the nuva ring for 11 months. I have noticed about a 10 pound weight gain and was heading for about another 3 pound weight gain this month. I took the Nuva Ring out about 3 days ago. After the first day without the nuva ring, I already lost 3 pounds! I have been working out fiercly for about 6 months and just couldn't understand why I couldn't lose the extra 10 pounds and in fact was on my way to gaining more. I heard the Nuva Ring could make you gain weight, which is why I decided to remove it. I just wanted to see if I would lose any weight. I didn't expect to drop the weight so quickly. 3 days later and 5lbs lighter, I know the Nuva Ring was the culprit. I'm going to try another form of bc, hopefully one that doesn't come with weight gain!

wow that's crazy, since I've only been on it a month, I'm gonna ride out the storm a little bit but I'll definitely follow your lead by taking it out if I do notice anything with my weight. It's so unfair that women have pretty much no other options when it comes to birth control. For the most part every form of birth control has the same two hormones and so really it's all based on how your body reacts to the hormones themselves. And I know these things are standard for every woman cause I know plenty of women who do not have any issues with weight gain and birth control. I just wish there was some new form of birth control that can guarantee no increased appetite or anything.. Hmm

I was on the Nuvaring for about 5 months and I gained approx. 40 lbs during that time. I've had the ring out for a few days now and I haven't yet lost any of that weight, but I know it was from the ring as I have not changed my eating habits at all since I went on the ring and it seems like everytime I get on the scale the number kept getting bigger. I would absolutely stop using the ring if you notice any signs of weight gain. I feel absolutely miserable!
