Hey, that's a really good question and something I've wondered about, how it knows how to release a specific dose of fake hormones every 24 hours. I picture it like one of those timed release air fresheners, but at least they plug into the wall and so have a power source (and certainly smell better than I do at the moment; I apologise for too much information).
I had the same question myself! It seemed that I was suffering the effects of too much of this progestin that was supposedly staying local....but my blood tests showed it wasn't really staying local! HOW did it know to only release so much per day??If there is 5 years worth of progestin in that little tube, what's to stop all of that stuff from being released more quickly? I am now 18 months post removal. I still occasionally deal with brain fog and dizziness...but at least the bloating, cystic acne, heart palpitations, etc are gone. All this for birth control.
