I don't know if you're still checking in, but I have a theory about my own reaction to certain birth control. I just took my ring out and haven't had a chance to test the theory, but I believe that birth control that tapers down the hormones as your period approaches might be the cause of these side effects. The only pills that didn't give me horrible headaches or PMS or any of the horrific side effects everyone is complaining about were Ortho Novum 1/35 (all the same dose of hormone for 21 days) and the progesterone only pills I took when I was nursing (also, one level of hormone for all 21 days). All the tri-phase pills I took gave me PMS, but the Nuvaring has definitely been the worst. I'm going to my doctor soon to see if I can get a single phase pill.
