TO EZRUST...I think that you are being totally rude...It is one thing to have your opinion but don't personally attack other women for having concerns about there own bodies..I have had the Mirena IUD for about 1 year and thought that it was great because I have had no periods and because I am horrible at taking pills so it works for me, but yet I have been to my OB/Gyn at atleast 6 times over the last year with the same symptoms that nobody will attribute to the IUD...And to sit here and say that nobody should complain about side effects that where so clearly listed, WHAT about the ones that where NOT listed!! Like my OB/Gyn specifically telling me that my husband wouldn't be able to feel the strings and yet I had to have then recut because they never softened..Or the hair loss that was not listed..or having no bleeding( that was listed) but having cramps so bad every month that it knocks the wind of you.. There are plenty of thing that are not listed and it's because drug companies just don't know until they put it out on the market!! And further more that is why there are websites like this for women to help each other better themselves and their bodies without feeling like they are whining or crazy!! I HAVE alot of these side effenct and I RESEARCHED this product for 6 months BUT some just where not listed...AND I AM most certainly not complaining because I choose to keep my IUD SIDE EFFECTS and all for the time being...I will say that is is nice to know that there are other women out there having the same issuse..because my OB/GYN told me that it I kept having the pain I might have to have a hysterectomy and I'm 24. So don't get on here acting like your a doctor when even the doctors aren't all knowing..they're just people like you and me believing what they are told just like you and me... AND to the rest of you ladies out there keep putting your stories out there because there are plenty of scared women out there thinking that they have something wrong with them and that they are alone and they're not!!!
All i can say is what a bitch... why come onto a side effect website slating women who are genuinely having side effects and who are sharing their side effects on a website set up for just that purpose...
all i can say is if its so wonderful why would you be reading or looking on a website for side effects....
Umm..EZ-Rust, I think maybe you should consider that Mirena has caused you to be a little irritable and crabby yourself. Perhaps ask your husband what he thinks about your mood since you had this inserted. But if you treat him like this when he says something you don't agree with, too, don't expect an honest answer.
Just to reply to you and back up my earlier post, I had the Mirena for nearly 5 years and the first two years happened the way you described, and i do think the woman on here are intelligent enough to know and uinderstand the "obvious" points you raised. But a lot ppl including me , tried to let it settle and bed itself in and it didnt work!
I have been a healthcare lecturer and nurse for over 20 years but firstly i am a woman and a mother and not and have never been a " whinger"
We will give you time to pass the two years and see how you feel, maybe you will be eating humble pie, if not then good luck to you, it obviously works for you.
And if you do a little research you will find somewhere along the way you will discover that all the woman on this site have correctly identified all the "real" medical symptoms that are actually listed on the doctors papers that the dont make public.
Why are you so very hostile? Are you always like this? It's very disheartening to see another woman attacking her peers for sharing experiences that may have been frightening, uncomfortable, and sometimes downright embarrassing. I'm thrilled that you have had a good experience, as I'm sure are the rest of the ladies who have posted on this site. This is a place to share experiences for the benefit of those who may be experiencing the same difficulties as other women, not a place to ridicule and belittle others due to your opinions. Are you a doctor? If not, kindly keep your opinions to yourself. If you are, shame on you for your lack of professionalism and courtesy.
Wow, EZRUST, do you work for the Mirena company? For you to sit here and have the holier then thou attitude is somewhat disheartening. I too am a nurse (an OB/GYN nurse to be exact) and did research the Mirena before having it inserted into my body. But how often do we see "wonder drugs" out there on the market to find out 5-10 yrs down the road that there are law suits because of undisclosed side effects, some not so bad to some that are harmful enough to cause death? Pharmaceutical companies are out there to make money.
I find it hard to believe that there are so many women out there with the same complaints, for this to be all in our heads. But for you to dog them out for simply looking for answers is absurd! Shame on you!
The side effects are listed, however, they downplay how often the happen. I had to go into the ER twice in one week with horrible abdominal pain and the doctors both times told me they didn't know what was causing my pain, even though a cat scan and ultrasound both showed my IUD in my uterine wall. Even though it is listed as a side effect, it is good to let people know how often it is truly happening. I had to go in for emergency laproscopic surgery, which was extremely painful afterwards, to have it removed. I did give it a try, but I am going to bitch, because it should work right, that's what it was made for, not to perferate my uterus. Hopefully it doesn't happen to you, because I am sure you would bitch too.
I am also one that had the Mirena for 5yrs. During that time it was wonderful . I got that one removed and received the second one and gained 30lbs, and horrible hair loss. I am free now one year and 3mos. and my hair has not grown back. As soon as I got it removed the hair shedding did stop. I have been going to derma. since. That devil of a drug only cause more problems. Good for you and I wish you the best with it, but don't disrespect the ones of us that had bad experiences with this drug!!!!!!!!
lol you are rediculous, just cause its workin for you...but if it was there other way around I GUARENTEE you would be on here whine assin like all us other women! ....dont even waste your time typin back
Hi, great that you seem to have overlooked what a lot of women are talking about,
which seems to me like incorrect insertion and possibly more seriouse complications
as a result. I am astounded at the health profession in the States, I am in
Australia, and I don't know of any Ob/Gyn (they are usually jointly qual'd here
and not just a GP with extra year or two, they have more than 8-10+ study to be qual'd
in surgical specialty) here thay would normally do a D&C first on ladies with long
standing heavy bleeding problems and rule out all other potenital causes and
other disease states first and do the insertion under some form of
pain relief or aneasthetic. There are not too many GPs here either that wouldn't
have referred a woman onto specialist care of a Ob/Gyn for such problems in the
first place.
And yes we will 'waste' our time writing back in case some other poor soul has
had the misfortune of falling foul, not only of the product, but of the practioner who
didn't know what the heck they were doing.
Just a a qualifier, I am sure that there are lots of great doctors in the States, UK
and all over the world who take there patients health seriously and are doing
the best for them. But the stories that some of the women have shared do not
seem to indicate that their medical practioners who inserted the IUDs took
any particular notice of their patients levels of pain or reactions to the insertion
process.
Hope that the ladies continue to post, I myself just for the record are still
researching the appearance of a bone tumour in my left femur (now removed) and if the IUD had
something to do with it. So.....there are not just whingers out there......just
women seeking answers, justice and better health.
