Shellacy are you for real?? "Organic sex, in the way God intented" what a load of codswallop!! I do not know of any women who take a birth control pill because a man has told them to, not all women take the pill for birth control reasons either, some suffer from very painful and heavy periods which effect their lives and find the pill very helpful in controlling this. Either was it is each individuals choice!
Please also remember that not all natural products suit everyone either, take peanuts for example, my sister is elergic to them and eating them could kill her so please try taking your head out of the clouds!!
I also have to say shellacy is off his/her rocker.
Birth control pills are to prevent pregnancy.
Even married women use them.
Although some may experience negative side effects,
There are also positive side effects; i.e. acne prevention.
It's rather strange that shellacy assumes women use birth control
Because a man asks to or in an attempt to please men.
It sheds light on life experiences I feel fortunate I avoided.
Birth control pills are a contraceptive of choice.
Not a rope around the neck.
You can start, stop, or switch as you wish.
Oh and, with the 3 to 7 days of bleeding each month,
God apparently never intended for women to have the same freedom men.
There are many of us out there who are not using hormonal birth control methods not to prevent pregnancy, but to prevent severe premenstrual symptoms. I have been diagnosed with PMDD.
When I am not on a birth control pill I experience the following symptoms anywhere from 17-21 days out of a month: Severe body pain (oftentimes just having my 5 year old jump up on my lap or grab onto my arm will cause me to cry out in pain), severe migraines, severe cramps, severe mood swings to the point where I can become suicidal, extreme fatigue (not just "I don't want to get out of bed", this is more like "I don't think I can even move today), nausea and extremely tender breasts. As soon as I start my period, I become almost euphoric and all of my symptoms disappear for about 5 or 6 days then slowly build up again until I have my next period.
I have been taking Levlen for the past 2 years, doing 9 weeks on and 1 week off and it has literally saved my life. It is no longer being manufactured and unfortunately, the generic, Levora, does not work on me. My health provider switched to Levora about a year ago and within 2 weeks of switching over, I was back to having the same symptoms. My doctor wrote a new prescription that specified brand only immediately.
Now that Levlen is no longer being made, I am being forced to try a new pill, Yasmin and I am very nervous. I have been on several pills and none of them have worked, save Levlen. I have also tried natural remedies such as Black Cohosh, Evening Primrose and Natural Progesterone with no luck.
I just think before you throw out a harsh judgment against all women for not trying it the "natural way", you should consider that not everyone is fortunate to experience relative symptom-free periods and that not everyone who is on a birth control pill is taking it for contraception. There are many other health conditions that BCP's are used to treat. I have mentioned one of them, but I know there are many more. My quality of life was very poor until I started taking Levlen regularly.
