Sounds like the typical side effects on statins . . . . .drs. and the drug co's have a SCAM going on the anti-cholesterol drugs . . . . big $$ . . . in reality, your mind/body needs cholesterol to function.
Addendum
I was given Zocor 40 mg. I quit after 6 days , having developed symptoms of dizziness, tightness around the abdomen, difficulty walking and standing. I found the website www.spacedoc.net which contains numerous testimonies and information about the negative side effects of Zocor and all statin drugs. Immediately,I stopped Zocor.
Two weeks after the withdrawal is the worse period and this is where many people suffer heart attack. When you take Zocor, your COQ10 is depleted as well as your Vitamims B and other oxidants. The effect is nerve damage, weak muscles (etc). I had severe blurred vision , breathing problems, GERD , tingling sensations etc. The pain around the chest was so severe that I was hospitalised.Fortunately, it was due to GERD ( because of the weak muscle).
I had my kidney and liver checked. No problems. Neither with my heart. But the CPK test showed I had minor muscle damage. Yes, only 6 days of Zocor! The damage could have been worse if I didn't take COQ10.
I am getting better each day by God's grace and through the proper nutrients. The tingling sensation is almost gone, my muscles are almost okay and my only problems are breathing and GERD (although they are less now)
What I take and why:
Vitamin D ( deficiency in vitamin D gives muscle pain )
Vitamin B ( folic acid, B6 and B12)
Vitamin E and C as they are anti-oxidant
Carnitine (helps rebuild muscles)
fresh carrot juice, celery and cucumber ( combat the GERD) and to give Vitamin A
CreaPure Creatine ( muscle strength)
Pure D-Ribose (muscle)
Ubiquinol CoQH Featuring Kaneka 300 mg. a day taken every 6 hours
I avoid anti-acids as much as possible as they interfere with your Vitamin B
I also do not take Omega Fish Oil and instead eat steamed fish.
The GERD is supposed to go away max. 6 months (in general) but the negative effect of Zocor is irreversiable .Scientific findiings indicate that only COQH /COQ10 can reverse the side effects.
The high cholesterol myth is simply a myth. Please go to http://www.ravnskov.nu/cholesterol.htm

I forgot to mention, I also had symptoms of sore throat and difficulty swallowing .This disappeared after 3 weeks.
Lisa, Congrats on doing your homework. You are miles ahead of the rest of the world population. Cholesterol is vital to our health.
I have a friend who is a physician. He "refuses to lie" to patients about cholesterol. There are some good doctors out there with entegrity, although they are few are far between.
Our creator didn't place LDL cholesterol in our bodies for the purpose of giving us a heart attack. There is no such thing as "bad cholesterol" as sales and marketing would have us beleive. LDL cholesterol plays vital roles in our health.
Statins lower LDL cholesterol.
I am trusting God to heal me. God is bigger than Big Pharma and their lies and greed. He came that I may have life and have it in abundance.
