I had the same things happen to me while on Desogen. It took me years before I figured out the solution: I was originally (for years) taking Ortho-Novum3/28 and having no issues at all when my gyno "switched" me over to Desogen. I realize now that he was simply responding to a drug rep's persuasive sell job, and that there was nothing wrong with the Ortho pill (they still make and sell it BTW), but I didn't think to ask questions or push back on the switch. Boy, did I have problems! I found out that the cause, at least for me, is a difference in the specific hormones in the Ortho pill vs. Desogen. Basically, the hormones in the Ortho pill "agreed with me" and Desogen did not. BTW - neither did Lo-estrin or Ortho Tri-cyclen. Bottom line: keep pushing your gyno to let you try other pills until you find one that doesn't give you problems. They're all made with slightly different estrogens and progestins, and they all affect your body in slightly different ways. If your gyno won't let you switch, and unless you have a specific health problem that one pill addresses and all others will not do (which, quite frankly, is very hard to believe), switch gynos. Your gyno's only interest should be in getting/keeping you healthy, NOT the "rebate" or free trip/cruise/fill in blank here that he will get from the drug company for prescribing the pill THEY want you to take! After I switched back, I found reasonable success, although, I'll be honest, my body chemistry never did completely go back to the way it used to be.
