There is a class action lawsuit for anyone that took Yaz/Yasmin birth control. I just saw the commercial the other day from an attorney in Denver and it's nationwide. Please call Nolan Law Group - Valerie Romo at 888-630-9340. They are handling it nationwide.

It seems that both are causing serious blood clots, gall bladder damage, etc. There is a mass torte in lawsuits being started against Bayer now. My sis in law has been affected by these pills which is what got me started on this.

With all the side effects of the drug itself, I wouldn't recommend staying on Yaz/Yasmin even if you are not having complications. There are many other alternatives available. The risks are outweighing the benefits at his point.

My name is Melissa. I am from Warwick, Rhode Island. Over a year ago I skipped a period while taking YAZ birth control. This was the FIRST sign which I ignored and told my self it was no big deal. This happened in April of 2008. I then became extremely irritable and bloated, I felt very gassy, but no gas would come out. I complained and complained, and yet just pushed it to the side. Then the symptoms got worse. Around this last April I became so sick that I was having diarrhea, and vomiting. I felt extremely ill. I then couldn't eat for a three weeks. Every time I ate it would sit in my chest and i would feel nausiated, so i felt like i couldn't eat which would make me continue to have diarrhea and or throw up. I then went to the hospital, they gave me a cat scan, and gave me some medication to stop the diharea. The cat scan came back fine and then he suggested I see the stomach doctor to follow up. I did. He went ahead and gave me a colonoscopy, then a Ultra sound, then a endoscopies, then I had two tests to see if my gallbladder was ok. This continued like this for about 3 months. I lost 10 pounds in one week. I was missing work for all these procedures, and when I was at work I would feel very ill. I would throw up and I would be in so much pain from the nausea, and bloating. I ended up loosing my job. Since I lost my job I was not able to continue to buy my YAZ birth control. So I didn't..... I noticed I felt better!!! I couldn't believe it I was back to normal with in about 3 weeks.... I still have some issues, such as irritable and very touchy and my bowls (I wont go into that). But the pain went away. I found a part time job and went to cash the check where I normally did (when I had my job) The girl at the store asked me how I had been feeling (since she new i felt and what i had been going through). I told her I thought it was the birth control. She asked which one. I told her YAZ.... she said NO WAY!!!! She told me there was a class action lawsuit due to the same symptoms. Here i am.

Hi, and thanks for posting this thread.

I am 32 years old and I have taken Yasmin for 6 months from approximately Oct. 2007 to May 2008. The first three months I was on it, I was bleeding every day. On one night in May 2008, I woke up in the middle of the night with severe abdominal pain along and nausea. A couple of hours later, it went bad from worse and I was rushed into emergency room shortly. My diagnosis was acute pancreatitis due to high level of triglycerides. The doctors ran a series of tests, blood, ultrasound, CAT scan, and X-ray, etc. Their conclusion was that Yasmin caused the dramatic increase of my triglycerides, and ultimately caused my acute pancreatitis. My triglycerides level was below 200 before I started taking Yasmin and by May this year when I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, my triglycerides was over 4,300. After spending 3 weeks in hospital for pain control and being off food and water for a total of 2 weeks, I was able to go home and get on with my life. My triglyceride level has gone down to around 200 since I stopped taking Yasmin.

I just hope that all the women out there taking Yasmin and are suspecting a problem, please please please see your doctor immediately and run some blood test. If you are unfortunately having similar issues like me, please know that acute pancreatitis is fatal and we would be lucky to survive this by simply stopping taking these pills.
