I am 45 and had the device inserted in June. Since then I have had an annoying constant red-brown discharge and my period three times. My menstrual cramps are definitely greatly lessened but what is freaking me out (apart from the discharge) is the anxiety I am experiencing for no reason. I am also feeling depressed. I am greatly concerned as being on the pill many years ago I had a mild stroke and my doctor assured me that the hormones ion the Mirena stay in the uterus. Why then the sudden anxiety attacks? I have always been a really laid-back person - I can only relate this sudden appearance of anxiety to the Mirena - it started about two weeks after I had it inserted. I am now debating whether to ride it out - has anyone had the anxiety subside?

READ MY POST****!!!!!!! Ladies, I never post anything on any website, but I feel it is important and I may even save your life. I have just had Mirena put in about 4 days ago. I am going to have it taken out immediately on Monday. Reading through this and recalling my previous experience with Mirena has given me solid proof that Mirena is seriously dangerous and awful for our bodies.

I also had Mirena inserted in 2002 and lived with it inside me for 4 years. I gained 50 pounds, I had awful acne all over my neck, was severely depressed, no energy, tried to commit suicide numerous times. I got divorced, lost my job, lost my home. I kept scouring medical websites about hypothyroidism and tried numerous times to convince my doctor that something was wrong and please help me!!! Eventually in early 2007 after several blood tests they found that my Thyroid was not working and they put me on Synthroid. Around the same time I had the Mirena removed. I had immediate relief, the strange neck acne disappeared, the weight came off and my energy came back. Slowly I have been rebuilding my life, but it has not been easy. I wasn't sure whether it was the Mirena causing the problems or the hypothyroidism. But I didn't really care because I felt so much better!

It is now late July 2009. I have had this new Mirena coil in for 4 days. I feel very depressed, hopeless, SEVERE back pain, dull headache, distended abdomen, exhausted, constipated and puffy. After 4 days!!! I am now absolutely positive that the Mirena caused all of the physical problems between 2002 and 2007. I am so upset that they would allow a product like this on the market. I am now 34 years old. I was in my late 20's when Mirena almost killed me. This stupid coil took the best years of my life and almost destroyed me. I hope this post seriously helps anyone else who is feeling confused about their symptoms. I wish I could sue the Manufacturer. Does someone really have to die before they pull it from the market??

GET IT OUT!! I have had anxiety and depression ever since I had it put in. These are only a few of the symptoms that I have had. Your doctor will tell you it is not symptoms but any blog tha you find you will see different. I have almost lost my family from this. I cant stand myself sometimes. You are not the only one that will suffer. If you have children or a spouse they will suffer too. I am so excited about getting mine removed. I have been dreaming about demons in me since I found blogs like this one. Some people even refer to this as a demon.
