I understand exactly how you feel - my son had a very similar experience with Singulair. Our children did lose years of their childhoods - and it is an outrage. There is no excuse for what has happened to them.
Please join us at www.parentsforsafety.org for comprehensive information about Singulair and learn what we are doing to help increase awareness of Singulair's side effects to spare other children from suffering like ours did.
While you're on our site, PLEASE report your son's adverse reaction to the FDA. The link to MedWatch is on our homepage. And don't forget to check the bottom of our homepage for different ways you can help.
Congratulations on making the connection. Now your son has a whole new life for you both to look forward to!

you are about to experience an amazing journey. it will be amazing to see your child recover from the assault of singulair. i can tell you from experience that it will take a full 3 weeks to see the most changes. you will start to see other things improve that you didnt even realize were connected.
my son was on singulair from age 4 to 7. it was after they increased his dosage to 5mg that it became loud and clear what was wrong. he suffered 3 yrs on singulair. i feel guilty every day for not recognizing it sooner but thankful every day for this website. when i made the discovery there were 700 side effects listed. i probably read every one of them in one weekend. now there is over 2400.
my son suffered from anxiety, restless sleep, nightmares, fears, leg / stomach pains, poor appetite, quick to tears, dark circles under his eyes etc... on the higher dosage, he began to have a facial tic, dilated pupils, hallucinations, cold sweats and extreme fears and anxiety. after discontinuing the singulair, he made an amazing recovery.
feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need support.
We, too, had an experience very similar to yours. My son started Singulair at age 3, experienced trouble sleeping, stomach aches and leg pains which we attributed to growing pains and/or stages of his development. He started out friendly and a little shy as a toddler and slowly got more and more shy, more and more withdrawn. When he started Kindergarten (also the dose was upped to 5 mg at this time) he almost stopped speaking in public and developed severe anxiety and his behavior became very irrational. At age six after he began obsessing about death we finally stopped the Singulair and saw a dramatic change, as you did - laughing and skipping - happy and sociable. Like you, we were angry and felt that our son had lost years of childhood. Please do report your experience and join us in the effort to publicize these dangerous and insidious side effects at www.parentsforsafety.org.
