I has mirena inserted two weeks ago yesterday and ever since have had several problems. I have a 3 year old and 4 month old and cannot go back on the pill b/c of a hx of migraines w/ auras. So, I thought the mirena was the best option since i had the deprovera shots many years ago for cysts and endometriosis and had many side effects from that. Since having the mirena put in I have been constipated with bouts of diarrhea mixed in, pain in my lower back along with pain mostly on my left side. I have a history of kidney stones and a kidney stone on my left side. I also have been bleeding like I have my period for 10 days now. I am told that I could bleed that way for up to 6 months by my OB/GYN. They said the diarrhea with constipation is not a side effect of the mirena and that I should call my primary care physician. Occasionally, the pain wakes me up at night. And I have been feeling more tired during the day and have to go back to work in 3 weeks. Is this normal? Is this related to the miirena? I have read a lot of the other posts and am worried. I also have a history of depression and have been treated for it in the past. I am going to call my primary care physician when the office reopens after lunch. I am a little nervous.
I would say the tiredness IS related to the Mirena. I am very OCD when it comes to keeping my house clean within the first 2 weeks of having Mirena in, I could careless what my house looked like. I had no energy and if I did do some physical labor, I was exhausted and my arms would feel like jello. I spotted for about 1 week and then got my period and it lasted 14 days!!! It never lasted more than 5 days. So when it stopped, I went to my doctor and had it removed. It took about 1 day and then it was like I had another period but only lasted 3 days. I feel SO much better now. The hair falling out has slowed, my face is starting to clear up, like I said before, my back & kidney pain is gone. I have energy and I don't snap as easily as I did on Mirena. The depression thing didn't happen to me but then again, I only had it in for 1 month. I say if you've noticed a lot of change just in 2 weeks that you can't deal with, get it removed. When I went to the doctor and told him I wanted it removed, he left the room to go look some things up and came back and said 12% of women get it removed within the first year due to all of the symptoms I told him I was having. He sort of wanted me to wait to see if the symptoms went away but said if I really wanted it out, he would do it. And getting it out was nothing...it look about 30 seconds and painless.
