We went through similar experience; however, we made the mistake of continuning the medication not realizing that Singular was the culprit. We now believe that the medication induced our daughter to have anxiety.
We never put two and two together that the medication was causing her nightmares and outbursts during the day. The Dr. said they had never heard of this kind of side effect so we continued on. Her dreams became very vivid and she felt they were real because one of the side effects that Merck kept from the public until FDA required them to publish in 2002 was that it could cause hallucinations and vivd dreams that may appear real. She started taking the meds in 2000. I believe in 2005 the FDA required that Merck also list the side effect of depression and could cause suicide. (Nice huh, they forgot to tell about that also) How does a 2 1/2 year old child know the difference? She was on Sing. for 4 years and we had the same symptoms of irritability, outbursts, depression, and night terrors. We brought her to 2 psychs and spent thousands of dollars to find out later it was the singular.
Now we will never know if the anxiety she still displays 3 1/2 years since being off of it was medication induced or innate. Most of the worst of the side effects went away immediately; however, I believe, because our kids were so young while taking singular we will never know if some of the behaviors induced because of the medication have altered their personalities for good. Like I said my daughter is still extremely high anxiety and hates to be in her room because she believes dead people come to see her. These were induced thoughts from the meds and still have gone away.
Good luck and hope things get better for you.
