My 9 year old daughter got her first shot in Dec. 2008 and her second in Feb. and the last in June. We have have been to the doctor a lot of times due to headaches with the doctor's opinion being that it's "allergies". She is now on allergy shots with still no relief from the headaches. I listened to her pediatrician and got her the shots. I feel so bad now after reading all the problems others are having with this vaccine. She also has had a change in her attitude aggression, moodiness, cries often, and she says she's depressed. If anybody has any suggestions for us please let me know. I love my little girl and know I'm worried.

The only suggestion that I have is to take your daughter to a psychiatrist because I am 17 and I have had the same symptoms and I tried to commit suicide so please if you have anymore questions contact me back

When you have a family history of cervical cancer you do what you think is best. Yes 9 years old. The pediatrician said it was fine and safe and I talked to her for a long time before we got the shots.

you know, just today on my local news station they ran a puff pieceon the risks vs the benefits of gardasil and came to the conclusion that the deaths and thousands of reports of serious adverse reactions were within "accepted levels"

wait a few years. mark my words, they will change their tune, decide that the risks far outweigh the benefits and it will be taken off the market- but not before Merck has made billions of $$ and many young girls have suffered

I saw the news today also and that's what brought me to this forum. I'm afraid of what could now happen to her. I called Merck today and told them of all the side effects she's having. All the foreign speaking lady could say,"was we don't know how long the headaches will last and that we have never heard of depression and attitude changes." She also stated that she would let the company know of what the news was reporting.......BIG HELP...NOT

um, may I just remind people that depression, headache and attitude changes are part of the hormonal cycle of PMS, and even if this 9 year old is not yet actually menstruating, she could still be hormonal. I am not dismissing the possible correlation, but parents are blaming ASD on vaccines with thimerisol/mercury preservative when you get more mercury eating a can of tuna. No vaccine or medication is risk/ side-effect free, and it is up to the parent to be as educated as possible, from more than just your pediatrician, as the "Informed consent" you give when you agree to vaccination.

You're right. I took her to the pediatrian and we discussed the possibility of hormonal changes. She said she's going through alot of changes so her attitude is changing getting ready for her periods.

of course doctors are going to try to "explain" the mysterious symptoms that crop up after the vaccine as being from anything but the vaccine. come on- i guess she could be "hormonal" but what about the 16 yr old girls who now need pace makers to keep them alive because their brains are no longer talking to their hearts? is that hormonal?
i have a 40 yr old friend who was on crestor and began suffering various muscle aches that his doctor wrote off as "old age"- at 40??!! that's how deluded we've become as a nation. drug companies have us so hoodwinked that we are willing to look anywhere except the probable source. funny, when my friend stopped crestor his "old age" pains went away.
listen, drug companies are large multi-national conglomerates with a fudiciary responsibility to their shareholders to be as profitable as possible. that means selling more and more drugs, getting drugs to market faster and faster. since the drug companies pay the FDA, you can't really expect the FDA to protect your interests- you don't butter their bread!
the FDA just approved a "drug" to "treat" short eyelashes!! are we kidding? or restless leg syndrome! everything these days is a medical condition.
of course Merck needs Gardasil to be a big seller. all those dead VIOXX victim lawsuits are costing them billions. they need another blockbuster drug to cover those losses. what better than a vaccine targeted at fearful parents that can be given to EVERY girl (and they want to start giving it to every boy as well) in the world? thye can charge whatever they want for it. you don't know how much it costs since your insurance pays for it. your doctor gets a fee for giving it to your daugther so he's going to push for it.
but what's the point? they still advise regular PAP smears. sure PAP tests are uncomfortable for a moment but they don't have side effects,, they don't disturb your body's chemical make-up.
please don't take your daughter's symptoms lightly or write them off as tennage crabbiness. teenagers have been difficult for centuries. i was a difficult teenager; i'm sure you were a difficult teenager. if you think that what is happening with your daughter is NOT the normal teenage angst, then you are probably right. it is something else.
in the book Worst Pills, Best Pills, the doctors advise that any changes in mood, behavior, symptoms that develop after starting a new drug should be attributed to the new drug.
Battbakk says "it is up to the parent to be as educated as possible" but how can you be educated? your doctor is going to tell you that it's safe, you're bombarded with commercials telling you how important it is, any warnings and information have been written by the drug companies. even if you read the studies, you have to remember that drug companies subvert the data. very often when the lawsuits start and the discovery process forces drug companies to open their sealed files, we learn how many people really died in the drug trials.
so you really can't be educated unless you read stories, like you do here, of other people's problems. and then you'll be told that all these people are crackpots, hypocondriacs, alarmists, etc. you can't win.
but you do need to protect your daughter. educate her about sex, make sure she has a good diet, gets her Pap tests and keep your fingers crossed. cervical cancer is not the big killer of women that the commercials make it out to be. yes, it's horrible and serious but what if you didn't get the vaccine and you didn't get cervical cancer anyway? what if you got the vaccine and it destroyed the rest of your life and you weren't going to get cervical cancer anyway? what if you get the vaccine and you have no problems and then you get breast cancer?
the truth is no one is perfectly safe. there are no guarentees. bu tthere are too many girls who are suffering now (even dying) because they took this vaccine.
don't take your daughter's complaints lightly. trust your instincts, not your doctor's financial interests
