I'm feeling the same as many of you ladies on here- it's certainly breaking my heart for all of you too. If we had known then what we knew now.... I got my Mirena about 6 months after the birth of my daughter and then spiraled into some serious depression. I'm so horrified now thinking back about how angry and ungrateful I was to my husband- I returned everything he gave me for Christmas in an angry huff. My behavior was awful AND it wasn't me. Over the next two years I had serious mood issues felt pregnant all the time (I even took to buying those dollar store tests so I could relieve my suspicions each time but not spend a fortune). And then there were the headaches. I had always had hormone related headaches (a few a month) so they weren't really new to me, but it got to a point where I was having so many I went to a neurologist for help - he asked me to chart them, I fund I was having 14 to 16 days a month with pain. I think the "off" days were just off because I was still under the influence of the pain drugs from the day before. My husband and I were planning on a third anyway- and suddenly I really wanted this thing out! I took it out, here I am, 9 months later- headache free!!! 9 months of no headaches and the "freedom" came within days of removal. I have now been trying to get pregnant for 9 months too- my period returned immediately after removal (the one perk I loved of the Mirena was no period) unfortunately, I can't seem to get pregnant. This, from a woman who seemingly got pregnant just by her husband looking at her. Literally, 3 cycles pre-mirena, meant 3 pregnancies for me. We had to be seriously careful- I'm terrified that this thing has now caused me to be infertile. I have been tracking my cycles watching for my ovulation and I can't find it despite having a regular 28 day cycle. Don't get Mirena- it's just not worth it

I know exactly how you feel!!! How did you take yours out on your own? When you felt pregnant did you have nausea/throwing up and even tender/larger boobs? I want mine out too and don't have insurance or much money...

I did go to the doctor, my strings had dissappeared- when he first told me this he was like "it's not big deal, just when you want it out it will be a bit of a search and destroy mission"- I'm like, dude, how about you say search and rescue- I already feel like I have destroyed my insides. I hate to say it, but you should have a doctor do it, you wouldn't want to risk any bacteria in there that shouldn't be there. Call your doc, talk to him/her about the money issue and perhaps you can work something out.
When I felt pregnant it was the exhaustion, the boobs, the nausea/heartburn that was very specific to my pregnancies (a very particular burn- I always knew about the day I got pregnant it was so distinct). Now i have these feelings all the time and I have yet to get a positive test. Last month it was so intense, my breasts, the burning in my stomache and I was sooooo tired. I say get it out however you can- good luck friend:)

Not sure of your ago....Mirena thrust me into premature menopause. I only had it for 5 months and after removal, never got my period again. Dr was shocked. Blood tests confirmed I was post-menopausal. Not saying that this is what will happen to you -- I hope NOT -- just be aware that this "local" hormone can get into your system more than we have been led to believe. I would not let it go too much longer before asking for bloodwork to see where you are fertility-wise. Good luck to you, I hope things go well.

I meant to say "Not sure of your age"...not "ago"! Sorry.

haha- I figured as much. I have a sonogram this friday to check my ovaries ,I had a few months where mid-cycle pain would last a week and was very serious, then it went away so I thought it was a fluke. Now I'm concerned. I'll consider your bloodtest when I go to talk and have my annual exam next week. Can I assume the red1964 means you were born that year? How old are you- just curious because of your "symptom"- how scary this thing has turned out to be. Thanks for your post!
