I am amazed at how many of us are having these problems, yet our doctors call it normal? I got mine put in Jan 09 and have been going downhill in terms of my health ever since. I finally came to the realization that it had to be the Mirena because nothing else in my life had changed. I am currently waiting for my period to start back up so that I can go in an have this removed and replaced by the non-hormonal copper IUD. Good luck to us all.

Hi- just FYI- I was never having a period when I had my Mirena so to take it out I just went in, I didn't wait for any specific time. Removal, at least with my doctor, was different from insertion- you just had to set an appointment and go in. I did take Motrin or something before- whatever you usually take to relieve cramping or pain- that helped with the process. My strings were gone so he really had to get in there to get it out- it wasn't too bad though. Good luck and get that sucker out! :)

I didn't wait to have me removed. I called and said I want it out and went. I did have some bleeding a few days after for a couple of days. Then a couple weeks later when I was surpposed to start I did. It was worth it, I feel so much better now that it is gone.
