I too have memory loss. It is humiliating not to recall events with friends and family and people I have been introduced to. I cannot conversations, movies and names of bands. I am 43 and have been taking this drug for seizures. The seizure disorder is gone due to the drug. I have gained weight, awaken with a severe headache on several occasions behind my right eye, feel tired and dizzy after an hour of taking the drug and blurred vision. I thought it was early onset of Alzheimer ( i forget how to spell it though I am in the medical field). My generalized Doctor and my Neurologist say this is not from the medication but from age and normal. The quality of life is not as I would like. I feel like I am missing out on my own life. Thank God I came across this blog! I have been researching this drug on the net and NOWHERE does it state this as a side effect. This is the only med I take.

I can relate to your post a lot. I too have researched this drug as much as humanly possible and this site is finally the first to confirm what I've suspected - that the Lamictal may be responsible for my hair loss, weight gain, crazy and embarrassing short-term memory loss, trouble spelling, and problems with my eyes and vision. I also get dizzy extremely easily.
Every doctor says its probably not from my meds and its normal and will all pass or just disappear. I didn't believe them.
Now, since reading your post, I'm positive they're wrong. Your doctors are telling you the same thing - that its normal. But they attribute this "normal" to your age... and the thing is, I'm 20 years younger than you. I experience the exact same things.
This site is the only place I've found where people actually GET IT, and are in the same boat. I just wish the medical experts would believe us. Then maybe we could start figuring this out, since its obvious to everyone here that these strikingly similar testimonies mean there's an issue for sure - and it needs to be acknowledged by doctors.
