I know what you mean about having to fight to get the IUD removed. I had mine put in last July. I was sure I didn't want it but after 3 years of begging for a tubal and being refused (due to age and previous loss of twins) I decided to cave in after having both my old ob and new ob recommend this thing. It was OK at first, nothing major except getting used to losing my period. Then around last January I wanted it out so I made an appt, only to be swayed back into keeping it. My ob said she's "considering eventually" tying my tubes, but wants me to keep thinking about it since it's a permanent decision... and in the meantime to just keep the Mirena until then. I wasted a co-pay just to hear that!!!! I called Planned Parenthood a few months ago and they want a lot of money to remove it... so since then I've been thinking about removing it on my own. Finally today I did... and I'm so GLAD!! I feel like ME again. The last 2 months I've been so moody and extremely depressed that my GP has put me on Effexor and actually just increased the dosage last week because the medicine has not been working....
This thing is a joke... I'd like to contact everyone here who has had a horrible experience with it and WE should make our own Mirena commercial!! lol
