Now it makes sense why doctors were so eager to prescribe Lipitor. Pfizer has been hit with a 2.3 billion penalty for illegal marketing promotions of 13 drugs that includes LIPITOR. They were awarding doctors free golf, massages, and resort junkets for "pushing" Lipitor, Viagra, Zoloft and 9 other drugs.

You are a champion for posting this. I'd just finished reading the article B4 I read your post. I hope like hell this is the start of opening the floodgates that sees the total collapse of all these fraudlent genocidal mongrels, in a similar manner we have seen the collapse of the bent finacial sector in recent years. If some of these crooks have had their products manufactured in China it would be nice to see them tried in China and rather than waste a bullet on them simply feed them their own safe products and let them die the same cruel death many of our elderly suffered.

sadly, these guys will just pay a fine and move onto to promoting the next fraudulant poison. just read all these posts- all these girls taking gardasil, all these people on lipitor. why do they keep taking these drugs?
today we took my dad to his heart doctor. he's 85 and just had a minor heart attack and they put a stent in there. they want him on plavix (4 wks), lipitor (regardless of his cholesteriol levels) two BP meds and nexium plus the baby aspirin he already takes. we agreed to two more wks of plavix but nothing else. he takes a licorice supplement instead of nexium and we'll work on his BP with natural things.
we have to accept some of the responsibility here. just because a doctor says to take a drug doesn't mean we have to- they're brain washed by drug companies too. there are too many incentives for them to perscribe drugs

Unfortunately, I am a victim of Lipitor . . . I trusted my dr. and now I learned the hard way and am paying dearly with the side effects that could be permanent. I no longer trust drs. I have spent countless hours on research on natural products/alternatives. Sadly, most drs. continue to push drugs, since that's all they know . . . .except to SCAM patients.

propsguy . . . .I think the answer when you ask "why do they keep taking these drugs" . Unfortunately, a lot of people just don't know that there are natural products/alternatives. They rely on their drs. (big mistake). etc. That's why I have spent countless hours on research and take numerous supplements. I have found that many drs. use the scare/threaten approach . One dr. told me that I need to take Lipitor (POISON) or I could have a heart attack . . . VERY SAD.

I beleive the frenzy surrounding statins is fueled by their profitablity, not their ability to prevent heart disease, and that many people needlessly suffer debilitating side efects in the false belief that it will save their life, simply because it lowered their cholesterol.

Its great news to read about the feds busting pfizer and the 2.3 billion dollar in fines. Certainly a step in the right direction to stop the criminal activity in big pharma and medicine. But I think its gonna take more than just dollar $$$ fines.

I think we need to impliment prison time for any physician or pharma rep caught doing this. Its time to start sting operations where FBI agents pose as pharma sales reps and physicians to catch violators. Get caught and its five years behind bars.
