The Health & disability commissioner in NZ has received my complaint of criminal negligence re my former doctor. They have now asked my former doctor for a please explain his version of events. The police have written to me saying they are seeking medical advice re criminal/negligence/failing to carry out professional duties complaint. Whilst I agree with everyone's feelings on big pharma, it is my very firm opinion that the doctor is the "retailer" and it is the doctor's direct responsibility to us the customer/patient to monitor and inform us of all safety concerns. Big pharma in covering their butts have warned the doctors to warn the patients. Of the 8 doctors including an anesthetist I have spoken with socially and in consultation, not a single doctor could name any adverse effects with statins beyond mild muscle pain. Given the warnings from pharma on the labels that is wholly shameful & negligent. An effective way to help others avoid being maimed like us, is to fight back from the bottom. The FDA and CARM in NZ take no notice, litigation is expensive and drawn out so neither really helps future innocent victims. I encourage everyone where negligence is fairly on the table to take your complaints to your country's police and medical discipline bodies enough of these complaints will soon have the doctor's "reading & obeying instructions" which would go a long way to preventing more tragic victims.

I agree . . .I think the greedy drug co's and the drs. are to blame too. I thought drs. took an oath and went to medical school to help people. Apparently, their ego's and the love of $$ . .they have forgotten the patients, the honest person that suffers. SHAME ON THE DRS. AND DRUG CO's !!!

oldcarpetcleaner . . . . GOOD LUCK !

oldcarpetcleaner- what happened to you?

i think doctors take an oath to "do harm first"

the main problem is that doctors, thanks to our insurance system, spend about 3 minutes with a patient. in that time, all they can do is write a script for a drug, probably the one that just supplied their free lunch

doctors don't have time to read all the warnings and side effects and what they do read has been written by the drug companies anyway so it's really a commercial disquised as science

Your last paragraph is my exact point. The drug co's have written several warnings and medsafe NZ's equiv of the FDA twice informed doctors to warn patients of muscle pain and to cease therapy immediatly. If the doctors don't warn us, then we present with the written known side effects and the doctor says "old age" etc, he is ignoring the direct safety instructions from the drug co and here in NZ ignoring medsafe's own warnings. So he is negligent and not carrying out his professional duties both of which are covered under the crimes act. I absoluetly detest these sort of people. Thanks for your help with ALS.

I agree with oldcarpetcleaners post here. If all statin victims would complain to our local authorities that grant a medical license to the physician, something would change.

Here in the united states that would be the state board of medical examiners. They issue the medical license to practice, and have the power to revoke that license.

Maybe physicians would be a little more honest about these drugs if they knew their medical license was at risk if they lie, or withold information from the consumer.

Thanks Bobby. As I mentioned above the medical council in NZ have sent a please explain letter to my former doctor who was and still partially is in my mind my friend. The police are monitoring their investigation. If nothing comes of the investigation at least there will be one doctor who will now fully understand that statiins can go horribly wrong. If he is so brain dead as to carry on with the cholestrol scam, he should hopefully listen to his future patients complaints and cease therapy the moment a doubtful complaint is raised by a patient. He would also be aware if another serious complaint came in, then in all probability he would be strongly punished. This process I have embarked on hopefully at the very least will protect my former doctors patients.
