I wish I could tell you to go get Mirena, but I have not had a good experience with it. If you have not had a child, my doctor said they don't recommend it. I have had 2 kids. I had Mirena inserted about 3 weeks ago. The procedure was little uncomfortable, but not painful at all. I had some minor spotting for the first couple of days, along with mild cramping. My doctor told me to expect that, so I wasn't worried. But for the past few days I've had terrible cramping, and have been bleeding for 10 days. I also tried to have sex with my husband & was in terrible pain. I don't think having an IUD is natural. I feel like my body is all out of whack & I just want it out. My doctor's office can't get me in for another 10 days, so i guess I'll have to suffer until then.
I had my mirena for 4 months only and they were the worst 4 of my life. I felt depressed, weight gain, hair loss, water retention in my legs, tired and NO sex drive--which causes problems with the husband. I had mine removed 9/3/09 and on 9/6/09 I started bleeding VERY heavily for 4 hours,I was also passing clots. I went to the clinic and the dr. told me it was caused from withdrawel of the iud. My regular Dr. told me not to expect anything diffrent and that my period would come as expected. Before my iud I used the ortha evra which I will be going back on. I would not recommend the iud.
