Sorry to keeping annoying y'all with more posts from me, but I have another question. I noticed that my symptoms were worse with Yasmin's generic, Othello, than they were with Yasmin. I am not knowledgeable about generic drugs vs. brand-name drugs, but I wonder if there is something different about Othello that my body doesn't agree with. Just a thought... Any comments???? :)

Ok, I am losing my mind. I mean Ocella, not Othello, as far as the name of Yasmin's generic drug. LOL!!! ( I think Othello is a Shakespeare play! ) One more reason that I need to get off this pill!!!!!! :)

Hi:

There are two possibilities. First, generic brands tend to have different "fillers" than the name brand. These are inert compounds other than the hormone, and I have experienced some adverse effects from fillers in other medications such as antibiotics. Sencondly, I was once told by my dermatologist that the amount of hormone in generic birth control pills can vary pill to pill by up to 5%. So there may be more or less hormone in each pill.

Yes i was on Yasmin for 5 years. The last year or so I changed to Ocella. I never had any problems with Yasmin until I switched to Ocella. Now i have migraines, hair loss, insomnia, anxiety, and heart murmer. I am going off of them all together!
