I had Mirena placed about 10 months ago because I had heavy bleeding continuously for about a year. It took about 2 months for the bleeding to stop. I haven't had a period since, but....I have had one yeast infection after another, about every 8 to 10 weeks, low back and pelvic pain and aching. I have no energy, wt. gain, fatigue, mood swings, and feel bad all the time. My husband says he can see why it works for birth control, because I have no sex drive. I'm glad all of you took the time to share your experiences so I know I'm not alone. I'm seeing my MD tomorrow to see about having it removed.

I had my Murena placed in December 2008. Prior to the IUD I was on the pill for 20+ years. I thought It would be good to give my bedy a rest from the pill. What a mistake. I'm a runner and since my IUD has been placed I can't run over 10 miles or run more than 4 days a week. The pain is unreal in my pelvic area. I called the OGGYN and she order a untrasound. The ultrasound confirmed the IUD was in place and found no other problems. Today I run a 10K and I am in so much pain. I'm going to make and appointment to have my Mirena removed.
