This is good to know I'm not the only one. I am so glad this website came up first because I too was ready to go to the ER. My doctor just prescribed this to me and tonight was my first night taking a 500 mg Niaspan tablet. About three hours later I woke up with my face on fire and tingling then it went all throughout my body. I was itching, tingling, burning, my skin looked like i had sunburn (was red), and hot to the touch. I am not sure if shortness of breath was a side-effect or it was just the anxiety of the situation. I also became very light headed and dizzy. It has been about a half hour since this began and about 15 minutes since I took 2 Benadryl. Not sure what the outcome will be, but I will update how this works out, as well as what my doctor says tomorrow.

I understand that if also taking aspirin, low dose or regular, take it 1/2 hr. or more befoer taking Niasin. It's happened to me also, but not regularly.
