After several attempts to lower my cholesterol, my doctor has settled on 40 mg of Lipitor, but, after reading these comments, I'm going to self-medicate and work my way off the drug completely. My main complaint is the fatigue and brain fog others have experienced. I do have a shoulder that has developed pain and weakness, and my legs don't seem to be as strong as they used to be, but it's the fatigue and memory/cognitive slowness that concern me the most. Also, like others, I assumed it was normal aging (I'm 58 and have been on statins for about eight years). I'll report my results after getting this stuff out of my system. Good luck to everyone going through this...we're not crazy after all, huh?

Good that you stop taking this POISON. I did "cold turkey" . Drs. are so drug-happy . . .when I told my dr. that I stopped taking Lipitor and the many side effects that I still have . . .he wanted me to take another statin! Needless to say, I changed drs. . . .DON'T LET YOUR DR. TO CON YOU. Your mind/body needs cholesterol to function properly.

You are not crazy. You have just been a customer/victim like many of us.

Eight years on statins? Lets do the math.

Average cost of statin treatment = $100/month Paid out between customer and insurance company)

Thats $1,200 per year x 8 years = $9,600 total gross sales. And thats from just one customer.

No wonder the drug companies can afford to pamper physicians with exotic trips to resorts, buy them golf, massages, and give them gifts.

You don't suppose the relationship is between the drug companies and the physicians do you? Certainly the patients needs come first... don't they?
