Day 17 for me now with the Mirena. I know they tell you a lot of the side effects are normal, but to me everything I'm experiencing is not normal.
After reading 100's of complaints for woman that have had lots of side effects from Mirena, common sense tells me to get this thing out of my body. Like many of you, I have experienced MAJOR hair loss, cramping everyday, diarrhea on and off, headaches, SHARP PAIN through my entire body, flu like symptoms, mood swings, nausea, can't sit down for long or in a certain position, cramping on my feet, hurts after intercourse, bloating of my stomach, pancreas pain, SEVERE BACK PAIN upper and lower, extremely tired all the time, can't workout or even take walks without major pains on my left or right side of my stomach and the list goes on!
I truly feel for all the woman that have experienced similar symptoms to mine. I also wish the government would be a bit more strict on devices like IUD's. Obviously, they do not tell us the truth and nothing but the whole truth about all the possible side effects. I know it may work for some woman, but even those that think is working for them, I've read lots of posts about all the problems they had after 3, 4 or 5 years of Mirena use.
My only regret is that I wish I had read all of these posts about Mirena and all the side effects woman all over the world are having. I certainly would not have gotten Mirena if I had known then what I know now. I also found some medical reports (reported by doctors and their patients) and the reports are astonishing! Especially the Death Rates reported to be caused by the use of Mirena. Not to mention the hundreds of hospitalizations caused by the use of Mirena. Why are some doctors so convinced that this is the best choice for pregnancy prevention? I am going in and asking my Gyn and her nurse if they use or have ever used Mirena themselves. I'm willing to bet the answer will be NO. I am going in this week to have this horrible device removed from my body ASAP.
Like many of you, I would much rather find another method of contraception then to go bold, continue with severe mood swings or worse yet have a miscarriage, contract an infection and possibly die.
Unfortunately, I thought I was doing well on Yaz birth control and that wasn't going so well either. I got off Yaz because of all the problems it was causing with my body and thought Mirena would be a better choice. Now Yaz is being sued due to severe side effects that have been reported. I wouldn't consider taking Yaz or any other birth control pill at this point because it has turned my world upside down.
One thing you should know is that doctors do NOT like to hear patients talk about anything we read on the Internet. WHY? Because it's misleading information....so they say, or is it? Because in many cases the truth is revealed making lots of doctors look like they didn't do their research. You should keep reading your blogs and tell your doctor he/she should maybe consider in reading them!! Yes, I agree that some people do not know how to express themselves properly in blogs, but many do. When you have hundreds and maybe thousands of reports and woman blogging about their symptoms it should be taken in consideration. The reason many of us are in search for answers other than our doctors is because many times we feel like our doctors are not listening to what we are trying to say. Perhaps they don't have an answer or solution to the problem, but we all know they are not GOD. Most all of us woman are NOT Stupid and I'm tired of being treated like I'm not educated enough to know my body.
Woman should get together and fight back!
