I too have experienced chest pain/heart pains after the insertion of Mirena IUD. I had it inserted 2 weeks ago and one week ago is when I started experiencing the pains. I also have pain in my left shoulder and arm and my back. My doctor's Medical assistant said the Mirena is not causing the chest/heart pains and and on-call doctor said he didn't think it was likely either but I read all the comments on here and also feel that I know my own body so I called the Dr today to have it removed. First appointment they could get for me was this Thursday but I did not want to wait so I called back 3 times to see if my Dr had any cancellations and third time was a charm because I go in tomorrow to get it removed. I just hope that is in the right place and is easy to remove! I will update. Also I printed out 15 of these 33 pages on here and am taking them with me tomorrow. I also reported my side effects to the FDA.

So I am updating. I went to the doctor today and got the Mirena out. I was totally expecting for my doctor to question my decision and say that there was no way the Mirena was casuing my chest/heart pains, but he actually was very caring and understanding and shared something interesting to me... He said that another woman had come in to the hospital just recently with the same symptoms as me although she came through the ER and was freaking out not knowing why she was having chest pains. I guess she got the whole complete heart work up and they found nothing. My doctor said-"It was the Mirena IUD." He said he took it out and now she is fine. He told me to call him in a couple weeks and let him know how I am doing. I was so glad to hear that because some people made me feel like I was crazy to think the Mirena was causing this. So my advice to everyone-if you experience this-get it taken out ASAP!!!

Well I thought I had already posted an update, but I guess not. It has been a little over a month since having the IUD removed and I feel great. I actually felt pretty good almost immediately. The chest pains went away and I was able to sleep that very night. The pains in my arm and neck went away too and now I am so glad I got it removed. My doctor was great about it too-very concerned. He said there was someone else who came in through the ER with chest pains, got a complete heart work-up only to find nothing-it was the Mirena!!! Once she had it removed, she was fine. I was relieved to hear that because it felt like people thought I was crazy for blaming Mirena for my pains.
