I have also been on Levoxyl for about 18 yrs. and I recently found out that Levoxyl depletes iron and calcium from your body. About a year ago I was diagnosed with anemia and I had to get 4 iron infusions within 2 weeks. My vitamin D was also very, very low too. I was at 4 and I should be between 30 and 50...So even though it is so called controling my thyroid look what else it did to me. Do our doctors actually know what the heck they are giving us and what the outcome can be? The specialist I go to told me my iron was so low I could have had heart attack, so what is the alternative. Synthroid is feeling threatened by the natural thyroid meds and has been trying to get them off the market. As a matter of fact a friend of mine who is on a natural is now having trouble getting it and so because of this she has been without if for a couple of weeks and her thyroid is messed up again. Something is wrong with this picture and I think people need to wake up and realize synthetic drugs are making us sick. Yes they may be taking care of the "symptom" but what else are they doing to us. The shame of it is sometimes we do not know until after years of taking a drug how bad it has been for us.
