I dare you to tell me that the sodium in Singulair causes you to retain water! The molecular weight of montelukast sodium is 608. The atomic weight of sodium is 23. Therefore sodium makes up 0.038% of the weight of the Singulair. So, for a 10mg dose, the amount of sodium in that tablet would be 0.38mg. An 8 oz. glass of V8 juice contains 420mg of sodium! If you want to worry about sodium content, there's the place to start. Stop scaring people when you don't know what you are talking about. By the way, I am a pharmacist.
This is interesting. I've never had a weight problem until I began taking Singulair 5 years ago. I've also noticed horrendous swelling in my ankles for the past 3-4 years for which I take diuretics. It would make sense to me, that over time, Singulair might cause these problems.
