a doctor told me once that systemic antibiotics are not very effective at treating sinus infections. first of all, there aren't that many blood vessels running through the sinuses so you have have to have a lot of drug coursing through your entire system to get a little bit to your sinuses. second, they never check to see if what you really have is a bacterial infection in the first place! maybe it's viral, maybe it's fungal, maybe it's inflammatory, in which cases the antibiotic won't do anything anyway, even if it could get there!
his suggestion, since he knew that i used a neti pot, was to put a drop of antibacterial, non alcohol based mouth wash in my nasal rinse since that would deliver the antibiotic directly to the tissues
i have a friend who wiped out a life long sinus condition in that way. he was miserable for about a month as dead glop kept coming from his sinuses until he reached the back wall and then they were clear. he stopped snoring, stopped mouth breathing at night and it was years before he got his next cold
maybe give that a try
