4 years ago i was given simvastatin 20mg for high cholesterol when i was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes....last year (November) i stopped taking it after someone commented after hearing me complain about aches and pains and asked if i was taking statins....i checked and found i could relate to several reported side effects...over the last 10 months my aches and pains had slowly disappeared and my cholesterol was recorded at 4.9 in July ....however 4 weeks ago i suffered an optic nerve stroke and my doctor immediately put me back on simvastatin at 40mg despite my complaints is there an alternative i can take as i don't want to risk loosing any more off my vision and as the aches and pains are returning ...i will reluctantly take it but carefully monitor myself....

It is certainly youir choice to take statins, BUT, these drugs are dangerous and they cause MANY side effects. The drs. and the drug co's are doing a SCAM on the anti-cholesterol drugs . . . it is all about big $$$. In reality, your mind/body needs cholesterol to function properly. DON'T LET YOUR DR. TO CON YOU . . . statins won't protect you to get another stroke !!

Type 2 diabetes is most often due to diet, and cholesterol has nothing whatsoever to do with it— it is an essential component of your body. I was in danger of Type 2 diabetes 7 years ago, but changed my diet and am now completely symptom-free as well as feeling more energetic than most men 10 years younger than I am. I've also dropped 14 kg in weight, without loss of any muscle tissue. My GP wanted to put me on a statin then, but I refused because of potential side effects. And I am SO GLAD I did!
Have a look at second-opinions dot co dot uk for more real scientific information about diet—and no, it's not my site and I have no financial interest in it.
