I myself take lamictal and have the same symptoms that you mention. I have been taking them for 9 yrs and my doctor told me I can't stop taking them because of my condition so I don't have a choice . Are you still taking them?
Yes I am. It is controlling the seizures well so long as I consistently take them and avoid stress. Lol easier said then done. I don't think I will ever be med free but its better than seizures.
Hi there. I can't tell you how happy i was to read your post. I'm sorry you're going through all this but am happy that i am not alone. I changed to lamictal about 4 years ago, I'm 34 and opted to change from Tegretol to lamictal for a safer pregnancy. I wasn't pregnant at the time but was doing some research for medication with less side effects before trying for a baby. My little girl is 2 now and since the pregnancy it's been all down hill for me, she's the only thing that keeps me sane. About 4 or 5 months into my pregnancy my seizures increased dramatically and was advised to take sick leave. I never returned to work as i am still unable to stabalise my seizures and to add insult to injury my shoulders dislocate during seizures and my left one can dislocate anytime due to wear and tear. Painful is an understatement and in January I'm having my 3rd shoulder reconstruction done in 3 years. Hopefully this will be the last of that. My memory though has me really worried. When I read your post I really felt that I could have been reading my own symtoms. Loss of sleep, headaches, the memory loss is embarrassing - I cant remember the simplest things. As for 'losing my words' mid-sentence, it's so inconvenient and of course tying to explain your way out of it is futile, i think i make matters worse. I have to go now, will write again if that's ok, but had to drop you a line now as i was so relieved to know i wasn't alone.
I have been taking Lamictal for 2 years now. My short term memory has been getting worse and worse. It is truly scary. I now find that my Long term memory is also being affected. A year ago I brough it up to my Dr. but he said memory loss was not a side effect of this drug.
Thank you! Thank you! I am so glad I am not the only one experiencing this memory loss.
What to do? What to do? Lamictal has stablizing my depression, in 10 years it is the only drug that has worked. But I know I have to get off this drug.
